Pumpkin ‘Muscade de Provence’

Pumpkin ‘Muscade de Provence’ (or ‘Potiron Bronze de Monthery’).
This pumpkin is absolutely superb in flavour. It makes a wonderful soup with a smooth velvety texture. Also great for baking and has fine keeping qualities too. Introduced circa 1800. An old traditional French variety that resembles a big wheel of cheese in shape and is sold in wedges at French markets.
Likes a well drained soil in a sunny, sheltered spot with lots of well rotted organic matter added to the soil and a good mulch to keep moisture in the soil.
